Session Management
Sessions represent individual class meetings within a course. Each session has its own date, time, location, and optional materials. Sessions are automatically generated from the course schedule or can be manually created and edited.
Session Overview
Sessions are a separate post type linked to courses. You can access sessions in two ways:
- Classerna > Sessions - View all sessions across all courses
- Course Editor - Sessions are listed at the bottom of the Schedule tab
Session Information
Each session contains:

| Content | Detailed description of what will be covered in this session |
| Date | The date the session takes place |
| Start/End Time | When the session begins and ends |
| Delivery Type | In-person, Online, or Hybrid (can override course default) |
| Location | Physical address for in-person sessions |
| Online Link | Meeting URL for online/hybrid sessions |
| Materials | Documents, videos, and links for enrolled students |
Editing Sessions
To edit a session:
- Go to Classerna > Sessions or find the session in the course editor.
- Click the session title to open the editor.
- Modify the session details as needed.
- Update the session to save changes.
Session Delivery Type
Each session can have its own delivery type that overrides the course default:
- Inherit from Course - Uses the course's delivery type setting
- In-Person Only - This specific session is in-person
- Online Only - This specific session is online
- Hybrid - This specific session offers both options
Course Materials
Attach learning materials to sessions that enrolled students can access. Materials appear on the course page only after a student has registered.

Adding Materials
- Open the session you want to add materials to.
- Scroll to the Materials section in the session editor.
- Click "Add Material".
- Select the material type (Document, Video, or Link).
- Fill in the required fields and optional description.
- Click "Add" to add the material.
- Repeat for additional materials.
- Update the session to save.
Managing Materials
- Reorder materials by dragging the handle on the left side
- Edit a material by clicking the edit icon
- Delete a material by clicking the delete icon
Managing Sessions
Reordering Sessions
Sessions display in order on the course page. By default, they're ordered by date. You can also manually set the order:
- Edit the session you want to reorder.
- Look for the "Order" field in the Publish metabox or session settings.
- Enter a number - lower numbers appear first.
- Update the session to save.
Deleting Sessions
To delete a session:
- Go to Classerna > Sessions.
- Hover over the session you want to delete.
- Click "Trash" in the row actions.
Bulk Actions
Perform actions on multiple sessions at once:
- Check the boxes next to the sessions you want to modify.
- Select an action from the "Bulk Actions" dropdown.
- Click "Apply".
Available bulk actions:
- Edit - Modify common fields across multiple sessions
- Move to Trash - Delete multiple sessions
Filtering Sessions
Filter the sessions list by course to quickly find sessions for a specific course:
- Go to Classerna > Sessions.
- Use the "Filter by Course" dropdown at the top of the list.
- Select a course and click "Filter".
Sessions on the Frontend
Sessions appear on the course page in a list format showing:
- Session title
- Date and time
- Location/meeting link (based on delivery type)
- Materials indicator (for enrolled students)
